Cornelius is the head of the industrial and organizational psychology group at Saarland University. His main research interests are situated in the areas of self-control/time management at work, personnel selection, stress at work, entrepreneurship, and the science-practitioner gap.

In the RTG, Cornelius is the principal investigator of project B2 and the secondary supervisor of project B1. He also serves as the small grant scheme representative.
