Franziska is the head of the Empirical School and Teaching Research Lab at Saarland University. Her main research interests focus on self-regulated learning (SRL), particularly the modeling, the assessment, the training, and the relationship to executive function and cognitive load.

In the RTG, Franziska is a senior researcher in projects F2 and F3 and the secondary supervisor of project B4.
