Malte is the head of the social psychology lab at Saarland University. His main research interests are situated in the areas of self-control and self-regulation, close relationships and sexuality, sustainability, and meta science.

In the RTG, Malte is the principal investigator of project F1 and the secondary supervisor of project B2. He also serves as the speaker of the RTG.
