Workshop “Preregistration”

DATE: May 9, 2025

LANGUAGE: English

DURATION: 9.00 - 17.00

LOCATION: Room "Gerstner" in the ground floor of Science Park 2 (building D1 2)

Abstract
Preregistration is one of several aspects that contribute to a rigorous research process. It is widely expected and increasingly often required by journals for a study to be published. In this workshop, we will discuss what a preregistration is, what problems it helps solve, and what problems it does not help solve. To help bridge the gap between theory and practice, we will look at different preregistration templates and discuss their (dis)advantages. We will also discuss how to deal with deviations from a preregistration and how to report them in a research paper. In hands-on parts of the workshops, you will work on (parts of) concrete preregistrations and have the opportunity to discuss concrete challenges when preregistering your work. There will be ample opportunity to discuss your questions and concerns in order to prepare you for your forthcoming preregistrations.

Please let me know your wishes and needs in advance of the workshop by filling out the questions in the registration form, so that the workshop can best meet your needs.

Note: For PhD students of the RTG, this workshop is mandatory. However, if you feel you are already expert enough on the topic, you can opt-out after consultation with your primary supervisor. Please send a PM to Karolin in this case.
